The Commission is hiring for a range of roles:

Director of Communications – Will lead strategic communications and public relations for the Commission. This person will be responsible for developing and executing strategy to develop a narrative for the Commission’s work and identify opportunities for media coverage. Primary responsibilities include: advising Commissioners and Commission senior staff on opportunities to advance the narrative of the Commission’s work; drafting speeches, talking points, and other materials for use by Commissioners and Commission senior staff, as appropriate; developing and executing strategies for managing relationships with a wide range of media outlets; serving as an on-the-record spokesperson for the Commission;  creating and managing a system for tracking and mapping media interactions; as appropriate, working with outside contracted firms responsible for public relations or strategic communications  on behalf of the Commission; and other duties as assigned. Expected salary: $180,000.

Operations Manager: Works closely with Commission senior staff to manage the core functions of the Commission: HR, financial management, IT, facilities, and more. Successful candidates will be excellent problem-solvers and extremely detail oriented. Salary estimate: $100,000.

Senior Policy Advisor: Experienced researcher and policy analyst who provides technical expertise on a range of topics. Proactively obtains research materials from a wide range of sources, including government, industry, and academia. Identifies and develops recommendations for legislative and executive action on Commission topics. Drafts written reports and edits the work of others. Salary estimate: $150,000.

Policy Analyst: Researcher with <5 years experience, who works on a small team under the leadership of a senior researcher. Need not have biotech policy expertise but should be a quick study, inquisitive, and a strong writer. Salary range: $75,000-100,000.

Outreach Advisor: Supports the NSCEB Director of Outreach in developing relationships with key NSCEB stakeholders, including biotech industry, academia, and government. Duties will include researching stakeholders and data management. Successful candidates will likely have approximately 5 years of experience in a outreach, government relations, or Congressional role.
