NSCEB Commissioners Urge Lawmakers to Further Enable Biotechnology as the Next Wave of Battlefield Innovation
A new letter from a bipartisan group of NSCEB Commissioners urges Congressional appropriators to continue funding the critical biomanufacturing program reshaping how we defend the United States today and in the future.

Washington, DC – Yesterday, several Commissioners of the National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology (NSCEB) urged the leaders of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense to continue funding the Department of Defense (DOD) program designed to deliver biotechnology solutions at scale to our warfighters. This biomanufacturing program will unleash innovation that has the potential to revolutionize military operations, strengthen our defense industrial base, and insulate our critical supply chains from interference by adversaries.
The United States has long been the leader in biotechnology, but our competitive edge is threatened. The Chinese Community Party (CCP) is rapidly advancing its biotechnology capabilities, and without swift action from the U.S. government, the CCP may quickly overtake this sector.
